Upcoming workshop

REGENERATIVE ART EMBROIDERY

Maison Shift, Zurich - 6 June 2026

2:30 - 5:30 PM

A workshop on transformation through embroidery, using natural and reclaimed materials.

About the workshop

In this workshop, participants are invited to explore embroidery as a regenerative practice, a way of transforming materials and traditional embroidery techniques through the use of unexpected materials.

Drawing on techniques from haute couture embroidery ateliers, we will create a small textile ornament by combining accessible hand embroidery techniques with elements inspired by goldwork and Lunéville embroidery.

Seeds, plant fragments, broken jewellery, metal elements, and found materials will be assembled into textured and precious surfaces.

From this embroidered surface, participants will develop a small three-dimensional object, a flower, a butterfly, a brooch, a patch, or a small ornament for the body or garment.

A short demonstration of the Lunéville hook will introduce haute couture embroidery techniques, while the main focus remains on accessible hand embroidery methods.
